See, that’s what the app is perfect for.

Sounds perfect Wahhhh, I don’t wanna

Ok, so I finally decided the way I want to direct this blog/“page”. I may edit this in the future in case I forgot to mention something on the day I post this. This is the basic summary:

  • 1. This is an official blog for my personal project The Legends of No-man’s Land. I’ll be posting stuff about the world-building, the lore, the story and characters which are either based on mythological gods or are directly inspired by them. NOTHING IS RELIGIOUS. Everything here was and is created because of my passion for mythical stories and various cultures which have been influencing me my whole life. Why? I simple grew up listening and reading about them. Do not take this in a way I’d be making fun of a religious group. In fact, I avoid this as much as I can.
  • 2. I might be also posting character analyses and writing prompts. I enjoy writing and creating new stuff. So if you’d like to chat about such, ask a question or two or think you could suggest an improvement, please, feel free to contact me.
  • 3. The takes I take on characters are purely my interpretations.
  • 4. The main story (as well as spin-offs/prequels/sequels/origin stories, if I feel like writing them) are going to feature MATURE ideas and themes (for instance the abuse and how different people deal with it). This means NSFW content which isn’t at all directed at minors and people who are uncomfortable with gore, addiction etc.
  • 5. The core is more or less of a psychological aspect. Let’s say, it’s somewhat of a deep dive to issues (social, psychological etc.). Please keep in mind, the story ONLY poses questions and ONLY ATTEMPTS to find a solution. Never a right answer.
  • 6. Genre: dark fantasy (feat. Slavic (especially), Chinese, Nordic, Shinto, Greek, Native American and other mythologies) and folk/psychological/cosmic horror.
  • 7. If anyone thinks something in terms of not getting right some facts in culture/myths, pleas, feel free to contact me. I’d like to get educated as I believe this is the key part of leading a civil conversation. To offend someone beliefs is the last thing I’d ever want.
  • 8. If anyone wants to chat or share an opinion, do so in a polite and civil way.
  • 9. When it comes to my grammatical skills, let me know and I’ll try to make myself as clear as possible because English isn’t my native language.
  • 10. The story is heavily (like, HEAVILY) influenced by several already existing novels, sagas, mangas and video games (for exemple Berserk, Bloodborne or Witcher and, of course, folk stories I used to read or members of my family would tell me). I will not deny if you’ll spot certain familiarities. However, the stories and characters aren’t copies of them. They are on their own and they “live” their own lives.
  • 11. I might post a design or two (take with a grant of salt, ‘cause lately I’ve been hooked up on drawing a lot).
  • 12. Writing prompts will be free to use. My characters, the story, the setting and generally the world of TLNL - no.

Sorry for a long post but because I want to finally create more of this project I wanted to clear all of my ideas up. I know today it’s one or two people (at best). However, in case people will take some liking or interest into this, I don’t want any kind of confusion to happen.

Again, sorry for grammatical errors but as I mentioned English isn’t my first language, though I enjoy writing in it.

  • Favourite tropes: animal companion, found family, rivals to best friends

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Writer info:

  • Genres I write in: horror, mystery, dark fantasy inspired by world mythologies, dark comedy, my wips might have a touch of detective stories to them, too^^
  • Tropes I use(d): found family, animal companion, rivals to best friends, rivals to friends to lovers (used only once as I don't like romance that much, why it appears in my wips is a looong story), orphaned MC
  • POV: 3rd person, multiple POVs with main focus on 1 to 3 characters max
  • I tend to write in quite a flowery language and in poetic prose, but since English isn't my first language it can come across slightly awkward (TL; DR I do plenty of updates and edits to my posted stuff)
  • My wips are inspired and sometimes directly refer to a certain mythology, such as Slavic (this one is also most widely used as I like to read local legends of Serbia, Russia, the Czech and Slovak Republic, Ukraine, Poland and so on), Chinese, Nordic, Japanese and Indonesian. HOWEVER I love to create my own mythos and so the world is a blend of characters directly based of a mythological figure exploring environement both familiar and completely new to them. (I've always been intruiged by a question what would happen if world mythologies bumped into each other and what would be the consequences of it.)
  • My own mythos are pretty much eldritch-like oriented with a significant touch of folk horror. I'm not going to lie, I'm a FromSoftware fanboi, I see Bloodborn or Kuon, I'm going feral and so is my inspiration.
  • There are many occuring themes about substance abuse, addiction, health issues, gore, extreme violence, sexual assault/rape and other strongly 18+ stuff, so I'd appreciate if only 20+ y.o. people (or be at least 18, really) follow this account. In other words - PLENTY OF NSFW THAT'S NOT DIRECTED AND INTENDED FOR MINORS.

WIPs

Not all from my wips have a proper introduction (a.k.a. there's no link for their Tumblr WIP intro). BUT I do plan on doing them, so expect the links to be updated. These are just quick summaries of them.

  1. The Flight of the Western Crane - A dark retelling of Journey to the West where Sun Wukong tries to protect the young Buddhist monk Tang Sanzang while meeting a duo of a stranded Princess of the Great Tiger Kingdom and her foreign advisor Lady Wolf Witch. Their common journey starts out as an innocent one. However, it soon evolves into a dangerous chase where the Monkey King must face the worst of his opponents.
  2. City of False Gods - Hybrid of wuxia, mystery and film noir genres set on a fabricated island near Hong Kong. The fiction evolves around the Monkey King who's, after his yet another imprisonment, woken up to a strange world of 1920s where his powers are under a radar by the local supernatural cop unit and is forced to live among the poorest while trying to solve strange happenings in the city. City of False Gods also serves as a sequel to The Flight of the Western Crane.
  3. Empire of Dust - Historical dark fantasy with horror elements set in 330 Constantinople. The story follows two little sisters one of whom is considered neither dead nor alive. One day, Ulfrika sets out for a strange task in order to provide for her dear little sister. Her pure-hearted intention, though, may lead her down the rabbit hole which may devour her sanity.
  4. Ratpeople - An outline idea for a standalone story involving Ulfrika and her time in the Wild West, where the soulless hybrid discovers an eerie town in the desert while chasing after a man who stole one of her horses. The story is related to weird western (mostly its horror and fantasy elements and no sci-fi stuff) and mystery genres and also mythology related things.
  5. Boy Who Chased a Dragon - Another outline story outside the universe of The Legends of No-man's Land. The story takes place on an island of eternal summer and flower bloom, where mythical creatures live peacefully. One day, Dado* loses his pet dragon, a creature his sister gave him for his 8th birthday, in a harsh storm. Now, he sets out for a long journey to retrieve his best friend from the claws of the cruel Ember King.

*because this is still in a process of an outline/1st draft, I'm still not sure about the name, it's only a working name for the protagonist

Author Ask Tag Game (???)

Thanks a lot to @angie-j-kay for tagging me^^ This was very lovely of you. I’m choosing Empire of Dust for this tag game.

  1. What is the main lesson of your story (e.g. kindness, diversity, anti-war), and why did you choose it? - I’m not exactly sure about the lesson, however the theme itself might be described as a tale of a lost soul that must learn to fight through life and whether the said soul is capable of maintaining its own innocence. It’s all about questioning one’s morale high ground and also whether we are born innocent or we gather the innocence by comminting ourselves to good deeds. Yet what is right and what is wrong is another question to be examined in my wip. To sum up, it’s mostly a story about the true nature of child-like kindness and the corruption of it. I chose it simply because I have a certain experience with people losing their hope, their mind and ultimately their ability to care about each other.
  2. What did you use as inspiration for your worldbuilding (like real-life cultures, animals, famous media, websites, etc.)? - As my other wips, I look for inspiration everywhere. Or rather the inspiration looks for me because the chaarcters are based of mythical creatures and gods while having personalities and traits of a few people I know personally. I’m also quite passionate about Biology, so it’s safe to say that when creating vrious characters and monsters, I simply take out Uncle Google and my old textbooks about human anatomy/abnormalities of a developing body/animals. I’m also inspired by several world mythologies and legends (Slavic, Nordic, Chinese, Japanese etc.) and older literature (Journey to the West, several Slavic authors) and also ‘modern’ stuff (Berserk manga, Fromsoftware games etc.). A big influence is also a book Fantasy World-building by A. Nelson which hepled me with coming up with my own ideas and unique looks for monsters (like seeing a creature in a uniquely shaped piece of wood).
  3. What is your MC trying to achieve, and what are you, the writer, trying to achieve with them? Do you want to inspire others, teach forgiveness, help readers grow as a person? - Ulfrika is trying to find peace for herself but especially for her last relative, her youngest sister Márgerdra, by bringing her 'home’. I’m not sure what I’m trying to achieve myself. There are several things on my mind at the same time. I simply want to tell a story as I enjoy creating. Might be that the storytelling and writing is a sort of an escape for me, the world where I can reconsider my decision while using similar themes as pillars for my writings. Maybe I just really love to explore my own mind and ideas. If it helps other people to grow or if it even inspires them, then itps certainly nice and lovely thing. Yet, I can’t say it’s my primary goal.
  4. How many chapters is your story going to have? - 27 chapters and I’m considering to add prologue and epilogue.
  5. Is it fanfiction or original content? Where do you plan to post it? - Empire of Dust is an original fiction (a dark fantasy mystery with strong horror elements and historical setting). Considering that AO3 has been taken down, I suppose I’ll post it either here on Tumblr or I’ll find another site (maybe Tappas?? But most likely I’ll stick with Tumblr). In case that AO3 is back again, it’ll be posted on both AO3 and Tumblr.
  6. When and why did you start writing? - I came up with the idea about a year (and half??) ago because I’ve been pretty invested in Byzantine Empire and Slavic people who interacted with it. And I also wanted to write down a story about Ulfrika and Márgerdra while they were still children/early teens, about their struggles and especially about Ulfrika spiraling down to the rabbit hole which caused a sort of a domino effect on her character.
  7. Do you have any words of engagement for fellow writers of Writeblr? What other writers of Tumblr do you follow? - I’m not sure what this question entirely means so maybe that you don’t have to be afraid of being annoying, cringe or anything else. Just write and be your own no. 1 fan. If you find a way to love your own work then you’ll also love the work of the rest of your fellow writers. About the writeblr accounts, there’s just so many and I’m not sure whether my keyboard and my goldfish memory would be able to mention everyone, so I’ll mention those who come to my mind as first and that is @arijensineink @faelanvance @rbbess110 @jgmartin @anthros-vanitas-archive already mentioned account @angie-j-kay @rubywrite @toribookworm22 @missaddledmiss @aohendo @outpost51 @dyrewrites and also many more. Love you all, darlings

I’m leaving an open tag for everyone as I feel that everybody deserves this sort of ask which has really nice questions

repressed-and-depressed asked:

Eve's weird question time: invent a crack ship either between ocs of ypur two different wips or your oc and character from a popular media. Or both. Of course I want to know reasons it would work and if you are up for it... how would they meet?

Hi, Eve^^ Thanks for the ask and I wish you a nice day, dear.

To be honest, I’m not the biggest fan of shipping or romance and I tend to avoid it many times. But because one day I felt so angry at many romance stuff being so shallow and mediocre that I decided to lowkey write something similar down out of spite (I, a certified romance hater).

That being said (yes, you can consider that as a rant, sorry; also I’m not familiar with the term crack ship, double sorry, dear) I’ll answer this with probably the only ship related to my characters - and that is Márgerdra, the Lady Wolf Witch (original character) and Sun Wukong, the Monkey King (a character from the Chinese literature classic Journey to the West who also exists within my universe as one of the major characters and protagonists - a.k.a. retelling stuff and so on).

Why would it “work“? Because both of them have their own troubles and those shared sorrows and dreads are what draws them near each other. They’re so similar (hard-working, persistent, loyal, hot-tempered, talented fighters) but still so different (Márgerdra is quite sensual while Wukong is much more colder and from time to time he might appear to be even stoic, Márgerdra has quite a warm approach to children, Wukong, though he’s got a lot of experience from taking care of small and young monkeys, still needs some time to adjust to kids; Márgerdra lashes out only at those she straight despises, Wukong will bash anyone and everyone - he wakes up and chooses violence). Funny thing is, both met in the wilderness while fighting against each other - Márgerdra thought he was a danger to her and her friend, Wukong thought the same about Márgerdra. She stabbed him in the ribs, he broke her nose. She spat on him, he called her a bitch. But eventually, they’ll get closer and more familiar, friendlier and they’ll see the other one as being equal to themselves. They hold a great respect for their friend. While Wukong starts feeling more than a deep and meaningful friendship as first in their relationship, Márgerdra was still too afraid to let herself to love but especially to be loved.

repressed-and-depressed asked:

Eve's weird question timeee: Imagine: You are now a published author and you have your own fandom to your wips. What is the most weird discorse that fandom could have? Use your imagination.

Hello, Eve and thanks for the ask^^ Wish you a nice day, dear

Considering that Otherworld (this name for the place is still a working title, I’m working on finding the propre term or a name) is a pretty big and creepy enigma I’d say it’d attract the most people to question it. SO here we go about the discorse:

Whether the Otherworld is:

a) only a place just outside the physical world where the creatures are created from the essence of souls of those who wander inside the realm (and slowly becoming hollow and so the soulless entities are created by the living ones from their negative emotions such as hatred, lust, perversion and so on - the afterlife created by the will of all the living things for it’s always easier to commit a sin) OR whether it’s

b) a being on its own who consciously gives birth to these twisted not dead but also not alive soulless entities (for example the human cocoon is surrounded by a strange tissue which could be speculated to be considered by some as a pieces of uterus) BUT because the Otherworld isn’t a propre being it tends to randomly pick fertile women who then will give birth to such entities within the physical world.

toribookworm22 asked:

Happy WBW! What's the harshest part of your world? Be it a place, a law, something character-created or otherwise, what is just HARSH?

Hello, Tori^^ Thank you, dear, and happy WBW to you, too!

Hm, there are two places which are really REALLY bad and that is the desert town in Ratpeople (I still don’t have a name for it so let’s refer to the place as ’Town’ for now) and the ’Otherworld’ a place which exists just outside the normal physical world (this one’s also a work name, not the official one). I’m going to pick Otherworld for this ask, though, because, well…it’s a hell of a landscape, to put it simply.

Otherworld is thought to be a place outside the physical side of reality, something above, yet ever-present. It is a mysterious place resembling an ashen desert where the sky is just as dead as the land below. Colours aren’t present, only a shade of grey, black and white with a slight tint of brown. There are no beasts, no humans, no gods nor demons, it’s a plain inhabited by the thoughts of those who enter it and those who enter may probably never leave it again. These victims, who got in by performing harsh and brutal rituals or were just too unlucky to be accidentely part of them, eventually become hollow on both outside and inside as they were stripped of their soul which was consumed by the place, aimlessly wandering throughout the plain.

Yet, there are speculations about a few soulless entities which were born inside such a plane. These beings aren’t considered neither dead or alive and they also tend to feed on the victims dragged into their place of creation (and also partially take part in feeding on their essence and souls, thus helping in the process of turning them into hollow wanderers).

Besides, the soulless beings, the place is many times formed by the emotions, memories and overall mental state by those who enter. It then plays mind tricks and creates illusions to deceive or to drive the living ones insane (for example there’s one scene where Ulfrika is going through this practically non-existent desert only to find a wide mud puddle with a single boat and a rope which are needed to cross the puddle; once Ulfrika is in the middle of the puddle, something below the surface begins to ram into the side of the boat). As a place of despair, mostly negative things help in forming the environement, such as anger, hatred, despair, sorrow, bloodlust and so on.

I most certainly don't have enough followers to do a poll, but hey, I'm gonna use them for funssies and for the first time lol

I can't decided which look I prefer for Jana. I feel like Jana would be a goth if she lived today. She is very energetic and obsessed with the morbid, dark and twisted. Is she dyeing her hair? I'm not quite sure yet.

Which hair colour do you like more?
